A new contemporary Red History Museum will open its doors soon!

The Red History Museum has been closed since 25 November 2025, with the planned reopening scheduled for 31 March 2026. During this period, the museum will completely redesign its permanent exhibition as well as all other museum spaces.

The new exhibition, co-financed through the EU call “Transformation and Strengthening the Competitiveness of Cultural and Creative Industries” as part of the project “Digital Transformation of the Red History Museum”, will offer visitors a completely new experience of history.

In the newly redesigned, climate-controlled space, history will unfold through interaction between visitors and the exhibition itself. Virtual reality, augmented reality, and interactive digital audio and video content will immerse visitors in the fascinating 20th century of Croatian and Dubrovnik history. In this way, visitors will be able to experience the most important, most turbulent, and—dare we say—the bravest period of Croatian history, and leave the museum with at least a slightly better understanding of Croatia’s past.
