Museum manifestation WINTER IN RED January 26 - March 30, 2024.

The program of the WINTER IN RED museum event aims to increase the cultural and social offer in the winter months, both for the local population and for foreign visitors to the city, and the dispersion of cultural content outside the city core towards the Gruž area.



LONG NIGHT OF THE MUSEUM / January 26, 2024 / 6 pm - Midnight




The Night of the Museum (also known as the Long Night of the Museum) is a cultural event organized by museum houses and other cultural institutions, the main feature of which is that the museum and other exhibition spaces are open until late at night and that the entrance to potential visitors is free or with a minimal monetary fee that allows them visiting not only one museum or exhibition space, but several. The first Night of Museums was held in Berlin under the name Lange Nacht der Museen in 1997. Due to the exceptional interest and the way in which the idea of ​​the event itself was realized, it soon spread to several institutions and different cities throughout Europe and the world.

URADI SAM (DO IT YOURSELF) workshops for adults



During February, every Friday afternoon we will organize different workshops with the aim of promoting recycling, reuse, repurposing and educating participants about the culture of "Do it yourself", connecting these workshops with the same movement in the 70s and 80s when the popular magazine of the same name was published . We will organize the workshops in cooperation with the Association of Technical Culture DŽ.


Schedule: Basics of sewing I / February 9, 2024 / 5 pm Basics of sewing II / February 16, 2024 / 5 pm Two manual sewing modules intended for adult beginners. Groups of up to 15 participants / registration at info@redhistorymuseum.com We will learn various stitches of hand sewing:

- How to patch

- How to hem by hand

- How to narrow down

We will learn to sew various types of buttons.

Students will also learn about the various necessary tools that will be shown to them at the workshop (needles, threads, patching sponge, squeegee, threader, etc. All materials and tools will be provided, also if the participants want to repair a piece of their clothing, they can bring it to another workshop and we will do it together.)


Basics of electric current I / February 23, 2024 / 5 pm

Two modules intended for adult beginners.

At the workshops, in the theoretical part of the workshop, the participants will first be explained how electricity is produced in power plants and how the electricity reaches the houses. They will be shown what the household electricity distribution looks like, how it is distributed and what protections we use.

They will also be shown a diagram home wiring and how it is read In the practical part of the workshop, participants will connect alternating switches, a light bulb and a plug on a model made of wood with a main distribution box with three fuses and a feed switch and three ordinary distribution boxes.


Exhibition 'REVOLUTIONARY CUBAN POSTERS 1968 - 1971' / March 8, 2024 / 8 pm




For the first time in Dubrovnik, the public will be able to see an exhibition of the private collection of author Igor Jović, a Zagreb antiquarian and collector. He bought the posters from Steve Pandžić, who lived in Cuba in the late 60s and early 70s, when the posters were created. The posters are an original blend of socialist ideology, hippie iconography, Catholic sacred images, and Cuban and African folk art. Posters are up to 70x100 centimeters in size.


The WINTER IN RED program of the Museum of Red History was supported by: the City of Dubrovnik, the Ministry of Culture and Media of the Republic of Croatia, the Tourist Board of the City of Dubrovnik, the Croatian Tourist Board, and the partners are TUP d.d. and the Technical Culture Association Dubrovnik.
